San Diego Regional Tournament at San Diego Miramar College Divisions B and C Saturday, February 8, 2020 San Diego Regional Tournament at University of San Diego Divisions B and C Saturday, March 21, 2020 Change to Tournament structure: In the past few years, Division B has over 110 teams while Division C has around 77 teams, this often presents some challenges and safety issues due to the high number of teams in Division B. Starting in 2020 season, San Diego Regional will hold Divisions B and C on 2 days. For example, 60 B teams and 40 C teams will compete in one day at one site and the remaining teams (B and C) will compete in another day. For 2020, schools will be assigned to the specific site upon receiving payment of the first team. Number of teams advancing to State and event and school awards will be based on tournament site per division. While we understand teams may have preference on dates and/or sites for multiple reasons, no special requests will be honored for 2020. There are so many moving parts of organizing 2 combined tournaments plus one new campus, site assignment will be vested with San Diego Regional. Please, no exceptions. 2021 site selection process will be evaluated and determined at the start of the 2021 season. Awards San Diego Science Olympiad awards team trophies to the top 6 schools in each division per tournament site. The team with the lowest overall points ranks 1st. School's placement is based on the best performing team within that school. Event awards will be given to the top 10 teams in each division per tournament site. The number of teams (schools) in each division per tournament site advancing to Southern California State Science Olympiad Tournament will be announced upon receiving allocation from State. The first-place finishers in Division B and Division C at the state tournament will represent Southern California at National Science Olympiad tournament.
