The Ocean Air Parent Teacher Association is a parent-teacher organization dedicated to helping create a sense of community at our school. Through a group of dedicated parents, teachers, and community members, we bring many wonderful programs and events to Ocean Air.

Ocean Air PTA operates under the umbrella of the California State PTA (PTA California Congress of Parents, Teachers & Students, Inc.), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This structure allows our local PTA to function as part of a statewide network supporting children, families, and schools.

 

The PTA brings family and community together at Ocean Air with events, students clubs, teacher mini grants and assemblies. This year events include the Back to School Bash, Ice Cream Social, International Night, Talent Show, Imagination Machine, Book Fair and Field Day and are all sponsored and coordinated by the PTA. PTA also uses funds to provide a yearly gift to school. Previous gifts include microphones for the MUR, printers, shade structures, new classroom furniture, and sports equipment. All gifts are determined based on need by the school administration.

 

Del Mar Schools Education Foundation (DMSEF)

DMSEF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that raises money to support the STEAM+ program in the Del Mar Union School District (DMUSD). DMSEF funds 30% of salaries for the STEAM+ teachers who include the talented staff teaching Science, Physical Education, Art, Music and Innovation Technology. Each child will receive education weekly in the five included programs throughout the school year.

Why should I donate to both OA PTA and DMSEF?

We need both! PTA and DMSEF work as a team to support DMUSD in providing an excellent and fun learning environment for the students. A way to think of it is PTA provides financial support by paying for supplies and equipment and DMSEF provides funding to pay for the teachers. For example, PTA pays for the microscopes and DMSEF pays for the science teacher.
